AKHIA Executive Vice President Heads Cleveland's Direct Marketing Association

Aug. 10, 2009

Cleveland, Ohio - The Cleveland chapter of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) has announced its leadership for the 2009-2010 season. Ben Brugler, executive vice president of AKHIA, a public relations and marketing communications firm in Hudson, will serve as the organization's president.

Brugler, a graduate of Kent State University's School of Journalism and Mass Communication, is replacing Daniel Stepanic, marketing director with C.TRAC Information Solutions, who fulfilled his two-year maximum term.

Brugler offers the chapter proven experience in public relations and marketing communications along with a passion for social media and relationship marketing.

"Direct marketing all aspects of it are valuable tools, but they must be understood and used correctly within your marketing program. Otherwise, you're putting a lot of time and resources into something that isn't going to help you achieve your objectives," says Brugler.

During his term, Brugler plans to position the association in a way that will continue to bring value to members. "In 2009 and beyond we are going to continue with what Daniel [Stepanic] started breaking down the walls of how people view direct marketing," he said. "It can take many forms, especially when you consider how valuable customer interaction and communication is today. It's critical to use the right tools on the right audience and be as focused as possible that's where I see DMA Cleveland impacting its members and market."

Brugler formerly served as director of public relations at MaloneZeris and Malone Advertising, an integrated marketing services firm. A social media enthusiast, he shares his thoughts on marketing in his "I've Ben Thinking..." blog at akhia.com/blogs, and tweets at twitter.com/benbrugler. DMA Cleveland (formerly the Northeast Ohio Direct Marketing Association) was established to serve as the educational resource and advocate for the field of direct marketing in Northeast Ohio. Direct marketing is a $2 trillion dollar annual industry, focused on the practice of establishing direct relations with customers through interactive communications.
