Good Example of a Successful Twitter Presence

I've been debating about buying a flat iron for my hair now for over the last month. I was going to buy one from folica (an online shop) because I have heard good things from my friends regarding the website. One problem though, I didn't know which flat iron to buy. Not only are there many different brands and styles to choose from but they are expensive so I definitely didn't want to make a bad decision.

Since I'm very active on Twitter I decided to look up folica to see if they were on there. To my surprise, they were. When I found the folica Twitter page ironically the most recent tweet was " Anyone have any questions about flat irons? Wondering which one to buy and why? Keep sending me your questions!"

Since I had a question about flat irons I tweeted my question directed at folica and got a quick response. The quick response was followed by a conversation of 10 - 12 tweets.

This is great customer service and I believe folica is doing a great job at managing their Twitter presence for many reasons. First, they post questions which engage their followers and show that they are willing to communicate and assist with shopping on their website. Folica also was very quick to answer my question. This gives the impression that someone is very dedicated to the Twitter account.

I never ended up buying the flat iron because the representative from folica on Twitter didn't try to pursuade me to make a purchase. Instead this person had an honest conversation with me, explaining that her hair sounded very similar to mine and I may not need a flat iron.  Honesty is something that definitely can help out your Twitter presence. I immediately got the impression that this person was truly trying to help me and not just sell me something. She recommended a few different (much cheaper) products to try and I thanked her for her help.

Later that day folica gave me a Follow Friday (follow Friday is when you recommend people to follow on a Friday) . It was nice to see a brand presence on Twitter interacting with it's potential customers.

It's important to promote your brand on Twitter but it's also important to make sure your followers realize you are a real person.
