… so it only makes sense that Collins Dictionary announced this week that AI is their word of the year.
The latest:
- Last week we learned that President Biden was going to announce an executive order around AI. This week we learned what that entails.
- Trick or Treat? Treats! Microsoft is giving out Windows updates (in other words, Copilot is here).
- Trick or Treat? Tricks! Hackers are weaponizing AI to use in phishing attacks.
- Want to read an article about AI that explains how we got here, gives you a peek into the future and is just really enjoyable? This MIT interview with Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s chief scientist, checks all of those boxes.
- Not sure how I missed this, but if you’re curious on how AI will disrupt search traffic, this is a solid read.
- OpenAI has formed a team to study catastrophic risks. And we’re not talking about the fallout from a Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce breakup.
- Don’t want your company using AI? No problem. But you can’t stop your customers. So you should be asking, “What does this mean for my engagement with our customers?"
- It’s a little early, given how fast AI moves, but here is Forbes's take on the top five AI trends of 2024.
As a reminder, this is a roundup of the biggest stories, often hitting multiple newsletters I receive/review. The sources are many … which I’m happy to read on your behalf. If there’s one you’d like me to track or have questions about a topic you’re not seeing here, let me know.
Thanks for reading!
